Tori Gee’s Biography
Tori Gee is a jazz vocalist in the style of Jimmy Scott, performing songs from the 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s. She sings the same laidback, in the beat phrasing and vibrato of Jimmy Scott, who popularized torch songs, love songs, blues, and jazz. Songs such as “Embraceable You,” “At Last,” and “Angel Eyes” are some of the ballads she performs.
Tori is influenced by Ella Fitzgerald, Jimmy Scott, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, and other artists of the Great American Songbook. Tori recorded her first CD, Getting Sentimental, with Michael Kanan, piano; Hilliard Greene, bass; T.K. Blue, saxophone and flute; and Dwayne 'Cook' Broadnax on drums. They were Jimmy Scott's road band, The Jazz Expressions.
Tori Gee is a New York City jazz chanteuse who performs regularly at Cleopatra's Needle, Minton's, Red Rooster, Gin Fizz, Russian Samovar, Spoonfed, and other nightclubs in the metropolitan area. She also performs songs that accompany dances such as Foxtrot, Swing, Waltz, and Rumba.
